Featured awards include those for best poker venues, best poker events, best online initiatives, and best poker innovations, media, best player of the year, and many others. GPI Player of the Year
Presented by:
Awarded to the 2014 American GPI POY Ranking Leader
Awarded to the American or Canadian poker player to have accumulated the most points on the worldwide live tournament poker circuit during the 2014 poker season as determined by the Global Poker Index’s exclusive scoring formula.
The winner of the Player of the Year award is determined by taking a player’s best 13 scoring results in all qualifying tournaments played between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014. Point distribution is based on the Global Poker Index’s exclusive scoring formula.

Media Person of the Year
Presented by:
Awarded by Nomination Vote & Jury
Award presented to the American or Canadian media person judged to have been a leading personality in poker media during the 2014 poker season. Media members are an integral part of the poker world. The best media members have the ability to connect poker fans with the poker world through articles, blogs, photographs or through other means.
The Media Person of the Year award looks to highlight those in North America who shine the brightest in the media world.
The Media Person of the Year will be awarded based on nomination panel’s list of nominees and a final jury vote.

Industry Person of the Year

Furthermore, players who have won a WPT or EPT Main Event and/or a WSOP bracelet or any High Roller or Super High Roller tournament prior to Dec, 31 2013 do not qualify for this category.

Award presented to the poker player from Canada or the United States of America judged to have been the game’s best ambassador in 2014, making a positive impact on poker while engaging its fans. Just what makes a great poker ambassador? It’s not just a popularity contest, that’s for sure. The best ambassador works hard not only on the felt, but also off it, promoting the game.
Poker’s best ambassador is also a player who connects with the fans and works at helping to find new players to play the game that we all love so much.

Award for Lifetime Achievement in Poker
Awarded by GPI
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to the American or Canadian deemed to have had provided the greatest contributions to the game of poker over his or her career.
For his contributions & founding the World Poker Tour, Winner: Steve Lipscomb
